What Makes andnp Different

andnp Corp. is an independent publisher based in Tokyo, Japan.

We publish books that deal carefully with human inner experience, across the fields of psychology, literature, and thought.

This page introduces the main features and strengths of andnp.

1. Editing Based on Primary Materials

One of the main features of andnp is our focus on primary materials.

Our representative project, Drop+Kiss…+, is based on diaries and poems written by one woman over about twenty years, beginning when she was sixteen.

The total amount of material is more than 10 million Japanese characters. In book form, this would be roughly equal to about 100 volumes.

At andnp, we do not treat such materials simply as documents. We carefully organize materials such as diaries, poems, medical records, and counseling records, and edit them into works that can be read as books.

Publishing that respects the first-person voice of the person herself, while also giving the material a clear structure, is one of the distinctive features of our work.

2. Publishing Across Psychology, Literature, and Thought

andnp books are not limited to one fixed genre.

Our themes include mental health, grief, the inner child, spirituality, personal records, and other areas related to human experience.

We do not treat these themes as separate categories. Instead, we edit them as different ways of understanding the whole of human experience.

For this reason, andnp books often have a structure that combines elements of nonfiction, psychological record, and literary work.

3. A Commercial Publishing System in Japan

andnp is an independent publisher, but our books are produced and distributed through the Japanese commercial book market.

We work with professional partners for printing, production, and distribution, and we manage our books as commercially distributed publications.

Main partners include:

Printing: Chuo Seihan Printing Co., Ltd.
Bookstore distribution: Kuwatani Shoten

Through Kuwatani Shoten, our books can be supplied to bookstores through distribution networks such as Nippan, Tohan, and RBN.

We also support direct transactions with bookstores.

In addition to bookstore distribution, we use online bookstores and our own sales channels, so that our books can reach readers through several routes.

4. Cooperation with Specialists

andnp books are produced in cooperation with specialists.

Our main title, Inside Out: Holding the Child Within — From Drop+Kiss…+, was produced with supervision by a clinical psychologist.

The book has also received recommendations from physicians and specialists in psychology and related fields.

By working with professionals in psychology, welfare, grief care, and related areas, we aim to publish books that are both reliable in content and meaningful to society.

5. Flexibility as an Independent Publisher

andnp is a small independent publisher, not a large publishing house.

This allows us to work with themes and forms that may be difficult to handle in conventional publishing.

We are not strongly bound by fixed genre categories or standard commercial formats. Instead, we choose the editorial form that best fits each work.

This flexibility allows us to publish works based on personal records, long-term materials, and themes that cross several fields.

6. Based in Tokyo

andnp is based in Fuchu, Tokyo.

From Tokyo, we carry out publishing activities while staying connected with specialists, academic events, research communities, and the broader culture of publishing in Japan.

Being based in Tokyo also helps us build relationships with people and institutions in psychology, medicine, literature, and the humanities.

andnp is an independent publisher with the following strengths:
